The San Francisco 49ers selected LSU running back Tyrion Davis-Price with the 29th pick (No. 93 overall) in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Davis-Price was among the many players the 49ers hosted on a pre-draft visit.

Davis-Price carried the football 211 times for 1,003 yards and six rushing touchdowns, adding 10 receptions for 64 yards through 12 game appearances as a junior in 2021, per Sports Reference. He had 1,744 rushing yards on 379 attempts and 15 rushing touchdowns, adding 28 receptions for 185 yards through his three collegiate seasons.

Davis-Price is from Baton Rouge, LA. He earned a pre-draft grade of 6.16 from NFL.com, which equates to a "good backup with potential to become a starter," per the site's 8-point grading scale.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6' 0 3/8" and 211-pound Davis-Price had a 40-time of 4.48 seconds, a vertical jump of 30 inches, and a broad jump of 117 inches. His other measurables include an arm length of 30 3/4 inches and hands measuring 9 1/4 inches.

Davis-Price had a vertical jump of 35.50 inches and a broad jump of 106 inches at his personal Pro Day. At his school Pro Day, he had a 40-time of 4.53 seconds, a vertical jump of 33.80 inches, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.40 seconds.

NFL.com projected Davis-Price to be a fourth- or fifth-round draft pick.

Below is the NFL.com draft profile bio on Davis-Price:

Davis-Price stepped in to contribute as a true freshman for the 2019 national champion Tigers, scoring six touchdowns on the ground in 14 appearances (64-295-4.6; 10-74-7.4 receiving). The former top-10 running back recruit nationally from Baton Rouge's Southern Lab High School led LSU with 446 rushing yards and tied for the team lead with three rushing scores in 2020 (104 carries, 4.3 per; 8-47-5.9 receiving in nine games, four starts). Davis-Price again led the Tigers with 1,003 yards and six scores rushing (211 carries, 4.8 per) in 2021. He also contributed as a receiver (10-64-6.4) in 12 starts. He opted out of the team's bowl game to prepare for the NFL draft. -- by Chad Reuter

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote the following within his scouting report:

Big, athletic back offering an enticing blend of size and explosiveness to go with an SEC pedigree. Davis-Price's early season tape was listless and lacking pro quality, but that changed over the second half of the year. He's an enigmatic back featuring urgency, indecisiveness, physicality and finesse on any given carry. He got much better as the season progressed and clearly finds a rhythm when given volume carries. Scouts say that staying motivated will be a major factor in future success. Davis-Price's athletic ability and hammerhead finishes will help him create yardage. He has the size and upside worthy of consideration in the middle rounds.
